Kuwum house progress, Bali
We arrived from Java, and went to see the progress on our Kuwum house.
The celebrations are in full swing and even our street got decorations.
They were just in a process of putting ceiling in.
*
Above this ceiling they have put a proper Aluminum Infra red barrier insulation:
We got this picture from Architect, while we were still in Java. We bought it for them, showed them pictures how it should be done: and they did it. They did not know about it. This will keep our attic nice and cool. It is not just about air conditioning bill, it is much better feel if ceiling is colder. Infra red radiation is a big part of how you feel about temperature.
...
We arrived at exactly the right time. They were just putting sheet rock on the ceiling
And if I would not be there, they would never think of putting aluminum Infra Red foil in the side celing.
There were left over pieces, and it was just enough of them to be put in.
It is not perfect, but anything helps.
A short break.
Measuring
They almost forgot to put it here.. They are not used to do such things, so it was a out of the routine. If I would not be there, they would not put it in...
Putting in last pieces.
And a day later: the ceiling is finished
We do not like the extra edge. We spoke with them and they said they will remove it, no problem.
Hydro insulation does not give me confidence, they are applying it in sun. I have experience with this in my balcony in Slovenia. This will leak for sure. They said we have 5 year guarantee.. but I doubt it will hold. Welding of a proper thick hydro insulation with a gas burner is a way to go. And then put extra layer to protect it from sun.
View down from the roof.
Toilet glass blocks are in.
There is a cat at building site we feed, every time we visit.
She just had babies. Indonesia is full of stray cats.

The day for shopping has come:
Searching for stone tiles in middle of Gillingham celebrations. We were lucky we found somebody in this shop.
We both like this tile. It is unique. It reminds me of bottom of a river mud and it reminds Anggi of leather. We will use it for toilet. Why, you may ask? Because it is how that space feels like. It is dark, moist and near Jungle. It feels like this stone belongs there.
We wanted to buy this ventilator first for 150 euro.
But then we saw this one. The picture does not give it justice. It is made of real wood. and the shape is really thin and propeller like. it costs crazy 350 euro. But we got it. It is a center piece of our space and it will make it look extra fancy.
Shower armature 170 euro
Black color should be ok, because there is not much limestone in volcanic soil.
Toilet sink 200 euro. Not much to choose from, so this one was least bad. It will go ok with brown tiles I think. Prices of products are no cheaper here then in Europe. If it is imported, even more expensive.
Lamp for the kitchen 2 x 75 euro
Light for toilet 30 euro
Water heater, 200 euro, Fancy Electrolux, it should last for a long time.
Daikin Air conditioning. Inverter motor. 3/4 PK (690W). He suggested we put a bit stronger: 1 PK. But more is not always better. We have insulated our roof, we put double wall that will accumulate cold, and we have a fancy ventilator. Plus we do not like to use AC too much, air quality is not same as natural cold. So we decided we will go light on AC. Typically we use it only 2 hours per day anyway... Just to take the edge from hottest part of the day away. This one was 350 euro, same as ventilator... :D
We spend 1500 this day and we did not even buy tiles yet. But it is ok... ...soon our house will be finished... and we will use this stuff for a long time.
...
Soon, very soon!
