Krishna Laundry , Bali
One would consider this a low income work. And one could expect their house to look like other typical low income houses in low income countries... Something simillar to the roof of this place.
But when you see their home...
It looks anything but poor
He is doing simple work, yet his house...
Is like a Temple! (Pura, it is called pura in Bali, yes yes)
It is like other typical traditional Bali houses, which you find all over. They are particulary common in Ubud area. When I first came to Bali, I asked how much the entrance fee is, you know for a museum? They gave me coffee and were proud to explain: this is not a museum: it is our private house. It has a private praying area, it even has a private cemetery.
When we studied in Ljubljana, they told us we should follow the advice of Adolf Loos: "Ornament is a crime" This is to be our guiding principle. Well... is it? Is it really that the ornament is so bad? Is this house a crime? Should the owners of it not be proud?
