Ramadhan and Idul Fitri, East Java

Large family gathering - Every two months all close and distant family members meet, pray and share food. Because this was end of Ramadan and start of Idul Fitri, this was the biggest event of the year (like Christmas in Europe)

Excited to be visited by "bule" (white people in Indonesia are called "bule")

Sitting on the floor. Big metal roof to protect against tropical sun.

Looks like wasabi, but no! It is a fermented rice. Sneaky Indonesians, "smuggling" some alcohol to the party :D. Nobody got drunk though, more like a teaser.

Prayer chanting before the big celebration

Buying fireworks for celebration.

On Idul fitri, people visit each other homes: we had a tour around village. Short 5 minute stay with crackers and drinks.

House 2: Empty spaces

House 3: the Pirate!

House 4: a Luxury house

House 5: the Spiritual man

House 6: Dark Tribal house
